Union Athletics Names 3 New Head Coaches to Oversee Girls Basketball, Fast-Pitch Softball and Slow-

Three new head coaches have been hired by Union Athletics to helm the girls basketball, fast-pitch softball and slow-pitch softball programs, announced Emily Barkley, director of Union Athletics.

Chaun Davis

Chaun Davis has been named head coach for Union’s girls basketball, replacing Joe Redmond, who has been named an assistant principal at the Union High School Freshman Academy.

“We are excited to have Coach Chaun Davis step into the role as head coach of the Redhawks Girls Basketball Program,” Barkley said. “Coach Davis has been instrumental in the success of the team over the last three years and has served under the leadership of Joe Redmond for many years. He is well-prepared to lead the program in the future and we look forward to the direction the program is going and will continue to grow with Coach Davis at the helm.”

Davis, who has been with Union since May 2018, previously has coached basketball at Northeastern State University, Booker T. Washington High School and Berryhill Public Schools. He has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education/physical science from Oklahoma State University, and a master’s degree in health and kinesiology from NSU.

Courtney Dobson

Courtney Dobson has been hired as the head coach for Union’s fast-pitch softball program, replacing Jerry Pease, who retired this year.

“As a Union alum, I am always excited to have the opportunity to hire fellow Union alumni back as teacher and coaches,” Barkley said. “Courtney Dobson is no stranger to our softball program, having served as an assistant for the past six years. She is absolutely the right fit to grow the next generation of players. A Union Hall of Famer, Coach Dobson’s success as a player will translate well for her leadership and development of the program.”

Dobson has been with Union since 2016. She received her bachelor’s degree in education and teaching and coaching from Fort Hays State University in Fort Hays, Kan. She received a Master of Science in health and human performance degree from Fort Hays State University in 2018.

Brittany Robison

Brittany Robison has been named head coach for the slow-pitch softball program, replacing Brett Morgan, who has moved to another school district.

“We are thrilled to add Coach Brittany Robison as the head coach of the Union Slow-Pitch Softball program,” Barkley said. “Coach Robison brings a wealth of knowledge in both fast-pitch and slow-pitch and the energy she will bring to practice every day will be contagious. We are fortunate to add such a seasoned coach to our staff.”

Robison has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a master’s degree in sports management from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.
