KGNS together with the Tellez Law Firm have selected Special Education Teacher, Martha Rodriguez as their “Teacher of the Month” for September. Mrs. Rodriguez has been teaching for 40 years. She started out teaching special ed in Mexico and has been teaching at UISD for over 20 years. She currently teaches a special needs unit of 11 students at Muller Elementary. Mrs. Rodriguez is passionate about her job and is constantly advocating for all children with special needs.
"What keeps me going is to see the progress in the kids who come in with many needs. You get to see how they're growing, learning and the potential in the abilities they develop and you see that miracles happen," said Mrs. Rodriguez.
Attorney at Law, Joey Tellez understands the importance of recognizing our teachers.
“There’s hundreds of teachers in Laredo that deserve a pat on the back and encouragement, so this is the highlight of my month. It’s just a way of me giving back and honoring people that deserve much more celebration than they get.”
Mrs. Rodriguez was surprised in her classroom with a goodie basket, a $250 check and donuts for her students. She expressed her gratitude to God, her family, her teacher assistants and school administration.
