There’s a new school in town called Juan Roberto Ramirez Middle School, and it hosted its first-ever school pep rally on September 11.
The western-themed event called "The Rattler Roundup" was organized by the school PBIS committee or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. Students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades were in attendance.
The district’s newest middle school is named after long-time UISD Board Member Juan Roberto Ramirez, a Vietnam veteran who dedicated more than 20 years of service to the Mines Road community.
Performing for the first time at the school was the Mighty Rattler Band, Cheer Team, and Dance Team—the Crimson Rattlers. They all put on a fantastic show.
Before a gymnasium full of spirited students, the school also recognized the Rattler’s football, volleyball, and cross-country teams for their hard work and dedication.
To close out the event, Principal Juan Antonio Herrera awarded the first-ever Rattler Spirit Stick to the 6th-grade class for their enthusiastic chant, "RATTLERS… STRIKE!"—delivered with the loudest voices and the most pride!
The campus is located at 402 Aquero Blvd. The school was brightly decorated with its new Rattlers mascot logo and school colors red & silver.
