 Rebecca Coss-Morales Named Associate Superintendent of District Administration and Student Services

United Independent School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Coss-Morales as the new Associate Superintendent for District Administration and Student Services. Mrs. Coss-Morales brings more than 20 years of distinguished leadership in education, with extensive experience at both the campus and district levels. She has consistently demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence and student success throughout her career at United ISD. Her recent roles include serving as the Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Policies, Co-Administrator in Charge for the district from 2023 to 2024, Executive Director of Federal and State Programs, Principal of United Middle School, Assistant Principal, Academic Coordinator and Elementary Teacher. Throughout these roles, she has been instrumental in shaping district-wide policies and supporting campus leaders in their efforts to improve educational outcomes.

Rebecca Coss-Morales has been recognized for her leadership and achievements, receiving several honors, including being named a semi-finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards in 2018, Region One Principal of the Year in 2016, and leading her school to earn the Texas Honor Roll designation in 2015-2016 and again in 2018-2019. Early in her career, she was also named Teacher of the Year in 2002-2003.

In her former capacity as Assistant Superintendent, Mrs. Coss-Morales supervised several critical departments such as Federal and State Programs, Athletics, Fine Arts, Health Services, Discipline Management, and Public Relations. She has played a pivotal role in developing district policies, coordinating efforts between campus administrators, and overseeing district-wide recognition events. Additionally, she has been responsible for organizing high school graduation ceremonies and supporting various district improvement initiatives. Some of Morales’s contributions include securing two competitive grants to provide tuition-free after school program services for twenty one schools in the Lyndon B. Johnson and United South High School feeder schools, assisted with the implementation of the first STEM program and its expansion to eight Middle schools, and she helped to establish the “Family Matters” Resource Center. She was recently selected as a presenter at the National ESEA Conference in Indianapolis and was also invited by the Joint Leadership of the United States Congress and the Congressional Award Foundation Board of Directors to participate in the 2023 Congressional Award Education Leadership Summit in Washington DC in March of 2023.  

Beyond her contributions to the district, Mrs. Morales is currently working on her Doctoral Degree in Educational Administration. She is an active speaker at national and state conferences, sharing her expertise on education, leadership, student programs and accountability. She has been invited by the Joint Leadership of the United States Congress and the Congressional Award Foundation Board of Directors to participate in the 2023 and the 2024 Congressional Award Education Leadership Summit in Washington DC.  

We are excited for Rebecca Coss-Morales to continue her outstanding work in her new role, where she will oversee a broad range of services that support student development and district operations. Her dedication, experience, and passion for education will undoubtedly drive continued success for our schools and students.

I am deeply committed to the success of our students, staff, and community of United ISD and I look forward to contributing to the continued growth and excellence of our district.”

She is married to her high school sweetheart, Eloy Morales, Jr. They have two children, both products of United ISD, Sabrina who is a defense attorney in San Antonio and Eloy III who is a teacher and coach at Raul Perales Middle School. She includes her three dogs as part of her family. She loves reading fiction and mystery novels as well as professional growth literature.  She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and makes time to serve at her church, Grace Bible, so she can continue to grow in her faith.
