UISD Holds Community-Wide Committee Meeting

United Independent School District held the second meeting of its new Strategic Planning Committee. The committee is made up of 120 people from all over the District, including students, and members of the community. Committee members are selected through recommendations by people at all levels of UISD.

The meeting was led by Buck Gilcrease, Ed. D., CEO of the Austin based educational consulting firm Moak Casey. Dr. Gilcrease divided the committee into 6 large groups to discuss how the District should address the challenges it faces. Each group discussed and listed their ideas to come up with a cohesive plan of how UISD can address issues by taking advantage of its resources.

UISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gerardo Cruz was optimistic about the committee and the guidance it provides. “I am incredibly proud of the work our district has accomplished in developing our strategic plan. This collaborative effort, involving our dedicated students, staff, parents, and community members, has provided a clear roadmap for our district’s future. Their invaluable input has ensured that our plan aligns with the needs and aspirations of our entire school community. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to all who participated in this process. Together, we will continue to strive for excellence and create a brighter future for our students,” he said.

Committee members from outside UISD include former educators, business leaders, parents, students, and community advocates.
