Rosana Montemayor Arizola, a dedicated educator with over 30 years of experience with United ISD, has been named the new J.B. Alexander High School principal.
“I am truly honored and excited to embark on this new journey at Alexander High School. With the support of our faculty, staff and community, I am confident we can elevate Alexander to new heights,” she said.
Arizola has had various roles in the classroom, district, and administrative levels. She earned a Bachelor Degree of Science in elementary education from Laredo State University and a Master of Science from Texas A&M International University.
For the past five years she has served as principal for United Middle School, an A - rated campus.
“My time at United Middle has shown me that with hard work, dedication, and strong support, anything is achievable. I am fortunate to work alongside an incredible administrative team and a group of dedicated hardworking teachers and staff,” Arizola said.
“Together, we have focused on fostering high academic excellence and standards. Under my leadership, United Middle has consistently maintained its A rating and earned numerous distinctions,” she added.
The campus has been recognized as one of the top middle schools academically, achieved an A Honor Roll status, received the prestigious Purple Star designation from TEA and garnered many other accolades.
Her previous positions include assistant principal at United High School, associate principal at Trautmann Middle School’s 6th grade campus, secondary recruiter administrator in the Human Resources Department, No Child Left Behind coordinator in the Human Resources Department, and assistant principal at Gonzalez Middle School, D.D. Hachar Elementary, Perez Elementary. She also began her career as a classroom teacher at Perez Elementary and Matias DeLlano Elementary.
She is eager to begin her work at AHS.
“My vision, my goal is to create an inclusive, innovative and academically rigorous environment where every student is empowered to achieve their full potential. Students will not only be prepared in college, career and military but they will also be equipped with critical thinking, leadership and problem-solving skills to be successful,” Arizola said.
She added that she will prioritize social emotional learning and mental health. She will also strengthen community engagement, use data to drive improvement and inspire pride and build school spirit.
“My aspiration is to create a lasting impact on education, just as my father did during his tenure as a high school principal,” she said.
Her colleagues wish her well in her new position.
“Mrs. Arizola is not just a principal, she is a visionary,” said Trautmann Middle School Principal Gilbert Moreno. “She understands that the heart of any successful endeavor lies in strong relationships and empowering those around her.”
“Throughout her career, Mrs. Arizola has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to this philosophy. She has nurtured countless individuals, guiding them with patience, wisdom and support,” Moreno added. “The field of education has changed over time yet Mrs. Arizola has constantly adapted and grown alongside these changes. She embraces innovation while staying true to her core values - empathy, integrity and a desire to make an impact.”
“Mrs. Arizola is driven by a commitment to help others, guided by honesty, compassion and unwavering loyalty to her profession. She tackles challenges with a solution-oriented approach, firmly grounded in a philosophy that respects guidelines, rules, policies and the law,” Moreno said.
