United ISD Receives Teacher Incentive Allotment Approval

United Independent School District (UISD) is proud to announce that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has officially approved the district’s 2024-25 Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designations, based on 2023-24 teacher effectiveness data. This significant achievement includes the addition of 178 new or higher-level designations, in addition to the 31 previously designated teachers, further recognizing the excellence of United ISD educators.

“This is a testament to our teacher’s great work in our classrooms,” said Superintendent, Dr. Gerardo Cruz. TIA is a statewide program aimed at rewarding highly effective teachers and supporting retention efforts. It provides additional compensation based on teacher performance and their impact in the classroom, measured through student growth. With approval from the TEA, these designations will bring over $3 million in funding to United ISD educators, highlighting the district's commitment to instructional excellence and student success. “This was a team effort. I applaud our campus principals for their dedication to our students and teachers,” added Dr. Cruz.  “Our Curriculum and Instruction Department also did a phenomenal job planning/organizing and getting the word out about TIA to our educators. This is big news for United ISD!”

There are three designation levels within the Teacher Incentive Allotment: Recognized, Exemplary, and Master. Teachers in these categories can receive an annual allotment ranging from $3,000 to $32,000 for a period of five years.

The school district is also thrilled to announce that UISD has the first National Board Certified teacher in Laredo, TX, who will earn a “Recognized” designation through the Teacher Incentive Allotment. This remarkable achievement highlights the district’s dedication to elevating teaching standards and ensuring students receive the highest quality education.

“We also want to commend our campus administrators for their commitment to providing thoughtful and rigorous teacher observations, ensuring the integrity of this process,” said Vania Magallanes, UISD Director of Teacher Incentive Allotment. “Additionally, the collaboration between HR, Finance, and Curriculum & Instruction has been instrumental in making this success possible.”
