United ISD is proud to announce its selection as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT). This prestigious recognition celebrates districts across Texas that demonstrate exemplary leadership, innovation, and commitment to student success through high-quality CTE programs.
The CTE District of Distinction program, launched by CTAT, highlights districts that excel in workforce readiness, foster innovation in CTE, and inspire others through their dedication to student achievement and community impact. Honored districts are selected based on their ability to meet rigorous criteria that include innovative programming, industry based certifications, alignment with workforce needs, and exceptional student outcomes.
"Being named a CTE District of Distinction is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our educators, administrators, and students,” said UISD CTE Director, Dr. Angelica Sanchez. “We are proud to lead the way in providing robust, future-focused CTE opportunities that prepare our students for success in the workforce."
As a CTE District of Distinction, United ISD is not only celebrating its own achievements but also setting a benchmark for excellence in CTE statewide. This designation opens doors to new opportunities for collaboration with educational and workforce development leaders, further advancing the district's mission of preparing students for success in a rapidly evolving economy. “Taking these phenomenal classes not only helps launch our students careers but it teaches them valuable life-lessons whether it be through culinary, automotive, health science or the dozens of other classes that we offer at our district,” added UISD Superintendent, Dr. Gerardo Cruz. “I am beyond proud of everyone in our district who continues to help our students thrive and demonstrate why we are a top district.”
The success of United ISD’s CTE programs are built on a foundation of innovation, workforce alignment, and a deep commitment to student success. United ISD offers over 20 specialized programs of study across its four high schools leading to industry certifications in high-demand, high-skill fields such as health science, agriculture, cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, culinary arts, criminal justice, automotive, business, graphics and education to name a few. United ISD’s CTE program of study is further strengthened by the dedication of over 150 CTE teachers with extensive industry experience committed to student success.
