United ISD Announces New Full Day Pre-K3 Program in Collaboration with Webb County Head Start

United Independent School District (UISD) is excited to announce the launch of a new full-day Pre-K3 program for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. This initiative, themed “Where Little Learners Dream Big,” in partnership with Webb County Head Start is designed to provide a nurturing, engaging, and academically rich environment for three-year-olds, setting the foundation for their educational journey.

“This program is aligned with our district’s mission to provide an inclusive, supportive, and high-quality education that prepares students for success both in school and in life,” said UISD Superintendent, Dr. Gerardo Cruz. "Many families are seeking full-day programs that can provide their young children with consistent, enriching environments throughout the day. By launching the Pre-K3 program, we are not only meeting this demand but also ensuring that every child has a solid start in their educational journey.”

Once enrollment is open in early Spring, parents can register their children at any of the following UISD elementary schools: Centeno, Freedom, Arndt, Cuellar and Zaffirini. There are certain requirements that must be met in order to enroll each student.

“It’s a win for the head start program in that the program is getting additional support from the ISD,” said Aliza Flores-Oliveros, Webb County Head Start Executive Director. “A win for United ISD because they are getting augmented services from the head start and an absolute win for the children and families served by the program because they are getting an opportunity for additional resources.”

Students will be in the classroom with Texas certified teachers who will provide excellent  instruction and research based strategies that are going to help them become better learners and independent readers in elementary. “The key focus here is that we are going to be focusing on developing their social/emotional skills, developing their oral communications skills and their early literacy skills that are much needed for the years to come,” said Elementary Education Director, Zaida Gonzalez.

UISD is confident that the full day Pre-k3 program will set a great foundation for the youngest learners in our community, “UISD is where Little Learners Dream Big!”
