The United ISD Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) department is comprised of five instructional branches, each led by an Executive Director. Additionally, twelve departments provide support and leadership under the guidance of a Director. This collaborative team works together to empower instructional directors, coordinators, specialists, and support staff. Our combined efforts ensure effective and efficient instructional support reaches all UISD campuses.
The C&I department is dedicated to upholding a tradition of educational excellence. We provide leadership across all academic programs, ensuring every student has access to a high-quality education. This commitment is reflected in our outstanding performance: United ISD has received an "A" rating for Overall Performance by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for five consecutive years (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024) – a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire district, especially our classroom teachers.
United ISD is proud to serve a diverse student body. Notably, 98.8% of our students are Hispanic, 40.9% are English Learners, 13.2% receive Special Education services, and 76.8% are classified as Economically Disadvantaged. This designation as a High Poverty and High Performing School District by the TEA highlights our commitment to closing achievement gaps and ensuring success for all students.
Our district is proud to have consistently achieved a graduation rate of over 96% for 3,000+ students, significantly surpassing state and federal benchmarks. Additionally, over 91% of our graduates earn the highest honor of a Distinguished Level of Achievement.
The C&I department remains dedicated to continuous improvement. We emphasize learner-centered instruction and a rigorous curriculum aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) framework. This ensures consistency across all grade levels and core subjects, meeting the highest standards for student achievement and progress.
While the state accountability system and assessments (STAAR and EOC) define our core goals, the C&I department also prioritizes fostering creativity and excellence in the classroom. We provide ongoing support to all UISD campuses, teachers, parents, and students to create a learning environment that stimulates academic success for every student.
The implementation of the Domain 17 Student Growth Measure or SGM in the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) highlights our commitment to continuous improvement for teachers. This program measures student growth within all content areas, ensuring educators receive the support they need to deliver quality instruction.
We are confident that through strong leadership, dedicated educators, and a focus on student success, United ISD will continue its legacy of academic excellence. Our goal is to empower all students to reach their full potential and become responsible global leaders.
We are Student Driven and Data Informed.
