The mission of the Pregnancy, Education, and Parenting (PEP) Program is to enable school-age parents, through education, to become self-sufficient, responsible, job-oriented citizens. The Program’s goal is to reduce the number of students who drop out of school due to pregnancy and/or parenthood and to recover young parents to the educational system.

SUPPORT SERVICES

  • Counseling
  • Transportation for student, and the student’s child(ren), as appropriate, to and from the campus or child care facility
  • Child care for the student’s child(ren), as appropriate, at a child care facility in close proximity to the home or campus
  • Instruction (inside and/or outside the classroom) related to child development, parenting and home and family living
  • Health services, including services from the school nurse and certified athletic trainer
  • Case Management and Service Coordination (assistance in obtaining available services from government agencies and/or community service organizations)
  • Technology Resources
  • Tutoring Services

PREGNANCY RELATED SERVICES

  • Compensatory Education Home Instruction (Face to Face and/or Virtual Instruction)

Pregnancy Related Services / Compensatory Education Home Instruction

Pregnancy Related Services (PRS) are Support Services including Compensatory Education Home Instruction (CEHI) a pregnant student receives during the pregnancy prenatal and postpartum periods to help her adjust academically, mentally and physically stay in school.

These services are delivered to the student when:

  • the student is pregnant and attending classes on a district campus; the pregnancy prenatal period prevents the student from attending classes on a district campus; and
  • the pregnancy postpartum period prevents the student from attending classes on a district campus
