Dianelle Martinez was sworn into office on November 19, 2024 to represent the constituents of District 7. As a mother of three children attending UISD schools and a graduate of Alexander’s Magnet High School, she understands first-hand the challenges and concerns of our community. She is a sports, cheer and band mom who loves supporting her children, whether it’s cheering from the sidelines, applauding performances, or helping them balance their commitments. Her dedication ensures they feel encouraged and capable in everything they do.
Beyond her role as a wife and mother, she is an advocate for transparency, accountability, and human dignity. She recognizes that the foundation of any strong community is honesty and respect. Since the early age of 13, she has been committed to serving our community which includes feeding the homeless, assisting families in natural disasters, providing meals for the elderly during extreme weather conditions, or assisting in city emergencies.
Her professional experience consists of working with Congressman Henry Cuellar as a Campaign Assistant, and as a Caseworker for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission servicing the elderly and disabled. She has also served as a staff research assistant to a non-governmental organization at the distinguished United Nations Catholic and Family Human Rights Institute in New York City. Upon her return to Laredo, she was the Public Relations & Event Coordinator at Entravision for six years. During her tenure at Entravision, she was nominated for the Lone Star Emmy Award for various Autism Awareness campaigns and collaborated with local restaurants to host events exclusively for Autism families. Martinez also served the community as a Physician Liaison and is currently a Care Coordinator with the federal Medicare program, where she manages patient care, educates patients, and ensures that their medical and social needs are met.
Mrs. Martinez holds an Associate of Applied Science degree from Laredo College, and is currently studying to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership. She is an alumnus of the Institute for Human Rights Program at Columbia University, and the U.S. Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights (USIDHR) Human Rights Certification Program.
She is passionate about her hometown of Laredo! Her vision is one of prioritizing a safe and secure environment for her family and others. She believes that the social, physical, and behavioral well-being of every individual is the cornerstone of a fulfilling life.
