Clark Middle School Celebrates First Hispanic Art Festival! 🌺

The Huskies celebrated student creativity and border culture during its first Hispanic Art Festival this week. Organized by art teacher Miriam Gonzalez, the event showcased handmade piñatas, jarrones and a Día de los Muertos altar.
“We just wanted to celebrate our community, our students, showcase their piñatas, jarrones and also the wonderful culture we have here on the border,” Gonzalez said.
Approximately 80 students across six art classes, mostly eighth graders and one sixth-grade class, worked on the projects. Using recycled materials already available on campus, students crafted and painted pieces by hand, with some staying after school to finish decorations and paintings.
“I just love celebrating everyone’s culture,” Gonzalez said. “I think it’s really important for my students to know and understand that sometimes we are not always going to agree with different cultures, but it’s OK to be respectful and be able to appreciate art and help each other out.”
Gonzalez thanked the campus team, parents, bands, dancers and students who made the festival possible. Their contributions included preparing food, setting up displays and cutting and sanding wood for the altars.
