UISD Weather Update: 2-Hour Delay for Fri., October 2

Posted Date: 10/01/26 (01:49 PM)

Dear UISD Families,

Following a meeting this morning with the City of Laredo and the National Weather Service, the latest forecast indicates that the heaviest rainfall associated with this storm is expected to impact our area this evening and continue into the early morning hours on Friday.

Out of an abundance of caution, United ISD will operate on a two-hour delayed start tomorrow, Friday, October 2.

Friday’s delayed start times will be as follows:

  • Elementary – 9:40 a.m.

  • Middle School – 10:00 a.m.

  • 9th Grade – 10:20 a.m.

  • High School/Cherish – 10:35 a.m.

  • S.T.E.P. – 10:15 a.m.

Bus transportation will also operate on a delayed schedule. Families who utilize district transportation should refer to the accompanying schedule for their designated bus time.

We recognize that weather-related decisions are not always easy, particularly because forecasts and conditions can change quickly. However, the safety of our students, families, and employees remains our highest priority. The delayed start will provide additional time on Friday morning to assess road conditions, inspect our campuses and facilities, and address any issues that may have resulted from the overnight rainfall before students and staff arrive.

We will continue monitoring conditions closely in coordination with the City of Laredo, local emergency officials, and the National Weather Service. Should conditions require any additional changes, we will communicate those updates promptly through our official district channels.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work to keep our UISD community safe.
